My new favorite thing

Hayden now says.........

"Mom, kiss me"

or

"Kiss me" as Joey is walking out the door in the morning.

LOVE IT

A child of a student

This is how you know you have a child whose parent is a student......

Hayden loves to tuck people into bed and put them "night night"

Today Hayden tucked me into bed in his new bed (more on that to come), gave me a kiss night night, and then shut the door...peeked his head back in and said night night...Hayden do homework.

Personal Day

Do you ever have one of those days where you want to take a personal day to rest, relax, and do whatever you want to do? Today is the day I want to take mine.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day. I am attempting to make my first turkey. Our neighbor Nancy is coming over for dinner.

Hayden colored these flowers for me.

Capitol Visit

Hayden made himself at home in the chair up front next to the media. That's what they get when they give a 2 year old a pass that lets him come and go on the floor as he pleases. At least they weren't in session.

Hayden enjoyed walking up and down the aisle chatting with the legislatures.

The coolest library ever!

Yes this is a real working card catalog and yes I sniffed it. :) My cousin's assistant did also, so I didn't look so strange.

Here are some pics from our "field trip" to the capitol.

Ice sculptures, pool, boy bags, undies, etc....

Making ice sculptures with daddy.

Trying on his new Thomas undies.

Wearing his "boy bag" he prefers to call it his purse.

His snowman he made at PDO

His new "leatherman" he got from Aunt Ingrid

It takes a real boy to look tough in his mom's powder blue hat and a robot shirt. :)

Swimming at the hotel with the Bellows and Shroyer families.

We have had a busy and fun past week. Last weekend we met the Shroyer and Bellows families in CF. The Shroyers got a hotel and the kids had a blast swimming. Hayden spent most of the time jumping to Joey and actually putting his head under water. He had a blast. After cleaning up we all went out to eat at the OP. We had a great time. It is always nice to get together, and we hope to do it more often this year.

Sunday we hung out at Joey's parents. Hayden had a blast playing with Grandma and Grandpa. Joey's sister and family surprised everyone and came for the big game. Hayden had fun playing with his cousins. We had a ton of food and fun.

Tuesday Hayden and I went to Des Moines to tour the Capitol and see my cousin who was just elected to the Iowa House of Representatives. We got to go on the house floor and walk around. We even got to see the library at the capitol. It was a great time. Hayden had fun seeing all of the people and talking to other reps on the floor. Hayden and I then drove around Des Moines and hit a few stores. We spent the night at my Aunt's house. We had a nice time chatting, eating, and Hayden had fun playing with all of the new toys. We also found out that Hayden is a big fan of radishes and vinaigrette dressing. Who knew? Wednesday we got up and went to the mall and headed home. It was a fun time.

Hayden got some underwear from his cousin Quinn. He loved trying it on and actually put it on and sat on the potty naked. He usually refuses to sit on the potty with his bare bum. I thought we turned a new leaf, but he still refuses to sit on the potty with is pants off. We haven't even really tried potty training, but may give it a go this summer.

Tomorrow we are watching Hayden's friend Theo for a few hours in the evening. We are going to start swapping a weekend with our friends so we can each have one date night a month. Looking forward to it.

We are also looking forward to the warmer weather for the weekend. We have some things we want to do outside, and Hayden is looking forward to getting out of the house and running around.
