First hot day of the summer
Today we all went to family swim at Noelridge. It was a beautiful and warm summer day. We went for about an hour.
Last week Hayden and I started swimming classes. Hayden screamed and clung to me the whole first class. He warmed up a little for the second class. We still had a lot of screaming, but not as much. Throughout the whole class Hayden wanted to play on all of the water toys in the water. So I thought today when we went he would want to play, but now that the water was turned on he stayed away. Joey helped him down a couple of slides and put his head under the water. When I say helped I mean forced Hayden down the slides kicking, screaming, and holding onto the top of the slide for dear life. Then we spent the rest of the time watching Joey go down the big slides and diving board. He is surely a big kid.
This evening we got Hayden's pool out in the backyard and he had a blast. He was a daredevil on the slide going down on his back, belly, and backwards. Maybe he is just more comfortable in his own environment.
Joey got his antenna up on the house. It has been "temporarily" placed in our backyard for the past couple of months. I am glad to have that space opened up so we have more room to play and have picnics in the shade.

Oh Joey
Today Hayden ran past me after getting dressed with the help of daddy. I saw that he had camouflage shorts on and thought I don't remember Hayden having camouflage shorts.
Then I got a better look at him when he ran by again and realized that Hayden was wearing "pants" that I took of Rorek yesterday. Size 9 months.
A. I can't believe that they fit him.
B. I can't believe Joey didn't think that something was strange with shorts that were longer than Hayden's knees and shorter than his ankles.
C. Hayden is still wearing his capris.

Potty Update
So far we are DRY 5 out of 5 of the past nights. We had an accident the other day when we were playing at our friends. It was our first 4 hour venture out, and he wasn't quite sure what to do. Luckily we were playing outside. :)
Today we went to the park to meet friends, and I made sure to ask him a little more if he had to potty. I also told him he could pee on a tree to sweeten the pot a little. Needless to say he peed on a tree and announced it to all of our friends and they all jumped around and did a happy dance. It was quite amusing!
Ingrid and Rorek are coming tomorrow for 2 weeks. It has been a while since they have been here. We are looking forward to their visit. Otherwise we have no major plans and are going to hang out around the house and get some things done.

Potty Training...Take 1
Friday night I had the "talk" with him. I told him that he was wearing his last diaper and that he has to start using the potty and wearing underwear.
We are taking the relaxed approach. We don't micromanage, ask every hour if he has to go to the bathroom, or stay in the bathroom when he is trying. We aren't using pull ups and so far we are 3 nights dry out of 3. I am sure we will have some wet nights, but we are going totally cold turkey. No diapers or pull ups. We have had a few accidents, but nothing that is to difficult to clean up. I am however thankful for wood floors. :)
Yesterday I was going to get into the shower and I told him that I didn't want him to potty on my bed or on my floor ( he was laying on my bed watching TV). I laid a quilt over my bed "just in case" and hopped into the shower. A little later I heard him come in and push his potty out into the hallway. He shut the door for privacy and came back in the bathroom and yelled "I did it"!
I am doing a lot more laundry lately, but am hoping we keep the potty train rolling and get this thing figured out before the end of the summer. :) Fingers crossed.

Does it make me a bad mom?
To send your child to bed with crusty juice hair because I couldn't muster the energy to give him a bath. I tried to comb through it, but could barely pull the comb through. Now that he is sound asleep with his hair sticking straight out, I am second guessing my decision.
