Max's Graduation

Last Friday we drove to Ames to spend the night with Lomen. We grilled out, chatted, and played with his band equipment in his basement. Hayden had a blast on the drums and watching Lomen playing his guitar and sing. We woke up on Saturday to a yummy breakfast and then hit the road to Kansas City.
The weather was perfect for the graduation party. It was great seeing everyone and chatting. We got a lot of use out of the fireplace outside. Hayden had fun playing with the kids. It is hard to believe Max graduated High School! We are excited that he is going to be attending Iowa next year.
Of course we had to check out Bass Pro Shop on our way out of town so Joey could pick up some last minute goodies for his trip to Canada. Hayden loved looking at all of the fish in the Aquarium and checking out all of the "fancy" boats as he put it.

Sick Again

My poor boy has a fever again! This time he does have some symptoms, watery eyes, cough, runny nose. I just want him to feel better.

Joey leaves for Canada tomorrow. Hayden and I don't have any big plans for the holiday weekend/week. It will be interesting to see what comes up. Joey has a 4 day weekend, so I am kind of bummed that he will be gone for that. It will be good for him to get away and do something fun since he has been working so hard at school non stop for a while.

Hopefully I will have a healthy child for our week alone. :)

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend everyone!!!

Getting Packed Up

I am getting packed up for our weekend in Kansas City with the family. We are headed out tonight when Joey gets home from work. We are going to stop 1/2 way in Ames to spend the night with Johnny. We haven't seen him for a LONG time and are looking forward to hanging out with him for a little while this evening.
In the morning we are headed to KC. My nephew is graduating High School. We are going to stay in a hotel and swim with all of my step sibling and their families. We are looking forward to a weekend away. Hayden is soooo excited to swim and see all of his cousins.
Saturday evening is the graduation party. Should be a fun time!!!
Maybe I will finally get some pics posted this week.

Sick Boy

Yesterday Hayden woke up with a fever. I kept him home from PDO, and we relaxed. His fever went down with Tylenol, and he was acting normal. No other symptoms. He woke up from his nap with a fever of 102.9, but was still jumping around. He wanted to play Hi Ho Cherry O and I sat down on the floor and told him to sit down and he started to and said he couldn't because it hurt "here" pointing to his lower back. Red Flag!!! Kidneys? I called the Dr. and they got us in at 6:30.
After trying to get him to urinate in a bag with no success, they had to put a catheter in. The test results came back good. So they sent us home and said to come back if his demeanor changed over the next few days. The Dr. skipped a blood test because he said Hayden looked so good. It is just odd he has such a high fever with no other symptoms.
Today he has slowed down a bit, but has moments where he is his old self. Hopefully the fever breaks soon and we can avoid any sickness. When the Dr. was rattling off all of the things that we need to watch for and what Hayden could have if he gets words, I started to get nervous. Then again it could just be roseola, and he has had that before. Especially since he named things like blood infection and meningitis.
I did actually upload our pics, and realized I haven't uploaded any on the blog since Easter! I will get that done once Joey gets home and can take over snuggling with the little boiling hot child! :)
It looks like it is going to be a beautiful Mother's day weekend. Hopefully we will be able to spend most of it outside.

First Time Fishing

Tonight we took the boat to Palo and fished. It was Hayden's first time in the boat with Daddy fishing. He was soooo excited. He didn't even cry when we put his life jacket on. He has cried every other time he has been in a boat.
He was also excited to try out his new fishing pole. He liked reeling his line in over and over. Soon the novelty wore off and he kept busy throwing the bobbers in the water.
It was a beautiful calm night out. It was just a great family evening.
We were out of the water by 8:00 and Hayden was asleep by 8:01. He didn't even wake up when Joey got him out of the car. That never happens! He is now sound asleep, I am getting ready for bed, and Joey is enjoying some quiet time downstairs just because he can. No more homework for 2 months. I am looking forward to the summer spending some good family time!

Good Times

We have had a great time with Ingrid and Rorek. We have been busy. Hayden has been handling sharing the attention well. He loves kissing and hugging Rorek.

This weekend we are going to enjoy a sunny weekend finally!!!! We are re planting some russian sage that died last year in our front yard. Then we are going to landscape the side. Nancy gave us a lot of hosta and I purchased a few fun things at Earl May yesterday. We are also going to pick up a truckload of mulch. I am excited to get it all done this weekend and try out some new plants on the side of the house.

Sunday my parents are coming down to pick up Ingrid and Rorek and take them back. It sure will be quite around here.

Joey is finishing up his final today. Then he is taking the rest of the summer off. I am soooo excited to spend some family time together. He has 2 classes left and will be done in October. I am READY for him to be done. Probably not as ready as he is. I am so proud of him and all of the hard work he has put in. It is not easy working full time, going to school, and having a family. It is hard to believe he will be done. We have lived like this for 3 years. I am looking forward to starting a new routene. :)
