Today the lady at the gas station said "Merry Christmas Eve" as I walked out the door and I seriously had to stop and think.....wow it really is Christmas Eve. It is raining and sure doesn't seem like Christmas eve to me.
Tuesday at 8pm we decided it started to sleet we better get up to Waterloo so we would be sure to make it to Joey's dad's retirement party Wednesday morning. It took us a while to pack, we got on the road at 9:30 and made it by 10:40. We drove slow. We saw a few cars in the ditch once we got close to Waterloo.
Wednesday we had the retirement party at John Deere. It was nice to see a lot of people there and have the whole family there to help Joe celebrate his 32 years at Deere.
After that is was play time for the kids -minus Hayden- in the snow and on the snowmobile. Hayden has still decided he will not put boots on or snowpants....so he is stuck inside to watch from the window.....which he is happy to do.
Then it was time to eat our yummy Turkey dinner!!!! It was delicious.
Today we got up and had a yummy breakfast. Then we opened presents. It was a fun time. We loaded up the car and then headed home. It is rainy and wanted to make sure we got home while it was still raining. Tonight we are going to our neighbor Nancy's house for dinner. She is making cornish hens.
Tomorrow santa comes and then we are packing up and heading to Wisconsin. Joey's grandfather passed away early Monday morning. The funeral is Saturday. We are sad to see Grandpa go. I considered him my grandfather. We had the same love for arguing, picking on each other, and banter. I guess you could say one of the bonuses of marrying Joey was inheriting his Grandparents.
Hayden is excited for Santa this year. It should be a fun one.
